Claire Swanson, a member of Alpha Chapter, has been named Chair of the Membership Committee of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Claire has been a member of numerous society committees. She is also a past NJ state president, a past Alpha Chapter president, and a recipient of the Dedicated Service Award from DKGNJ. The membership committee at the international level has a big job! "Charged with responsibilities related to membership, this committee will study and make recommendations related to membership issues. The committee will present training sessions for state organization membership chairs, recommend women for international honorary membership and present the international necrology ceremony. Resources for chapter membership activities and suggestions to help with recruitment, retention and reinstatement can be found on the committee page. Membership in DKG provides multiple opportunities for members to make a difference in order to impact education worldwide." One of our Lambda sisters, Jennifer Laster, recently received a Fulbright Award. Jenifer is an English teacher at Barack Obama Green Charter School in Plainfield. The Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program will allow Laster to study abroad for a semester in order to learn and share ideas with other educators. This award is sponsored by the Fulbright program and the U.S. Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It is only awarded to 76 teachers across the U.S. Read the article on the My Central NJ website. Attached is the Fulbright announcement. |
