Special Awards

Picture
The Rose Award is to be given to a Professionally Active Chapter member for her outstanding service to education, community, or Chapter (e.g., State or National officer, Citizen of the Year, Teacher of the Year, service to the community, honoree of a state or national education organization, or author of a book).
Reason for Award: Please attach a descriptive paragraph in 100 words or less explaining why this member has been nominated for the Rose Award. (only a short description of nominee will be read at the Convention to conserve time).  The complete paragraph will be placed in the Rose Award Booklet and placed on the State Website to be printed by each Chapter after the Convention. Each Chapter will receive a folder with certificate and write-up at the Convention to be presented in their Chapter at a future date.  Please use the attached form and adhere to the deadline: February 1, 2020.
This year we are asking that you also submit a PICTURE of your recipient to be displayed on a power point presentation during the  Awards Dinner.

  • The Key Award is to be given in odd numbered years to a Retired chapter member for her Outstanding Service to education, community, or chapter (e.g., State or National officer, citizen of the year, teacher of the year, service to the community, honoree of a state or national education organization, or author of a book)  Nomination form 2019
  • The Rosebud Award shall be presented biennially in odd numbered years to a member having ten or fewer years of membership and who exhibits outstanding service to her chapter and the state organization, as well as an
    interest in the international Society.
    Criteria for Nomination/Selection (Nomination form)
    A.  The nomination shall be made by Chapter, will be limited to one per Chapter for each presentation year and the nominee can be a sister from any chapter.  A chapter does not have to make a nomination.
    B. Presentation will be made in the odd-numbered years at convention.
    C. Award selection will be based on active membership in Delta Kappa Gamma/Alpha Zeta State and chapter for ten or fewer years.  The years should be counted from January 1st of the year the nominee was inducted to the tenth year.  (Ex.  2008-2018)
    D. A written narrative by the Chapter President or her designee shall accompany the nomination, describing personal character traits of the nominee in performance of Delta Kappa Gamma activities and her commitment to the Society.  (see form)
    E. A standing committee of three to five members shall be appointed to review nominations and recommend a recipient for said award based upon the above criteria.  (see D above)  Chapters that have a nominee for the award will not be represented on the committee.  In the event the committee does not make a selection, no recommendation will be made to the Executive Board, and the award will not be presented that year.
  • The 2015-2017 Alpha Zeta State President's Chapter Honor Award for Excellence is now ready for chapter's use. This Award recognizes chapters that have worked to meet state and international goals. All chapters in New Jersey are eligible and invited to apply. Applications must be postmarked or e-mailed no later than March 1, 2017.  Here is the instruction link for more complete information and the link to the application form (*.doc)  The application is a Word.doc format, so you will be able to save it, complete the application and return it via email if you choose to do that. Evidence that is needed for some areas may be scanned and sent electronically or have sent by USPS. The PDF version can be printed and filled out by hand for USPS submission.
  • The state’s Dedicated Service Award may be given biennially, in even-numbered years, to a member in Alpha Zeta State in recognition of distinguished service to the Society.

The Dedicated Service Award was established in 1988 to recognize a member of at least 10 years who had given extraordinary service to the Society on the state and chapter level. Those members who are serving or have served as state president are ineligible because they are recognized on the State President’s plaque. Each chapter president or her designee is eligible to nominate one individual—not necessarily a member of the chapter—whom she believes is deserving of this award. After much deliberation the committee makes a selection, which is revealed at the Alpha Zeta State convention banquet.
